About Blurries

Who we are, what the name means, and the thinking behind the work.

What is Blurries?

Blurries is a Prague-based design studio focused on glass lighting and decorative objects. Each piece begins as an unresolved idea and is developed through a precise, process-driven methodology into a technically resolved object. Czech glass-making tradition meets architectural thinking.

Who is behind Blurries?

Martin Lukačka — architect, parametric designer, and lighting specialist based in Prague. Over a decade of experience in bespoke lighting, with projects in the USA, Middle East, Europe and Asia. Blurries is his design practice under its own name.

What does the name mean?

The name describes those early-stage ideas that are still blurry — undefined, not yet resolved. That is where design is born.

What informs your designs?

Architectural thinking — proportion, structure, the logic of how things are put together. Natural forms enter the work when the geometry calls for it, not as decoration. The result is objects that are technically informed without being cold.

Materials & Configuration

The materials we work with and how pieces can be adapted to a project.

What materials do you work with?

Czech glass — blown and cut — is the primary material across all collections. Secondary materials vary by collection: powder-coated metal, fabric, leather. All components are sourced and produced in the Czech Republic.

Can the design be configured?

Yes. Everything is custom made to order — colour, finish, and fittings are adapted to each project. The available options are listed per product, and anything beyond them can be discussed directly.

Bespoke & Trade

Commissioned work and how we collaborate with architects and designers.

Do you produce bespoke work?

Yes. Bespoke and project-specific work is handled through blown.design — a separate platform for custom lighting commissions. If your project requires a piece developed from scratch, that is the right starting point.

Do you work directly with architects and designers?

Yes — this is a natural fit. The background is architectural, the process is technical, and the work is used to being specified into projects. We speak the same language. Contact us early in the process if possible.

Do you work on larger projects?

Yes. We have experience with hospitality, residential, and commercial projects at larger scale — multiple units, coordinated delivery, project-specific logistics. Contact us with the scope and timeline.

Ordering & Payment

How to place an order, payment terms, and changes or returns.

How does ordering work?

All orders are handled on an inquiry basis. Use the contact form or email us directly. We will confirm availability, lead time, and any configuration details before issuing an order confirmation.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Once an order is confirmed, changes or cancellations are not possible without our written consent. Any change is at the Buyer’s cost. We recommend confirming all specifications — dimensions, finish, electrical parameters — before sign-off.

Can I return a product?

All Blurries products are made to order. As custom-configured goods, they are exempt from the standard 14-day right of withdrawal. If you receive a defective product, see our warranty and damage claim conditions.

How much do your products cost?

Indicative prices are listed on the product pages. Final pricing may vary depending on configuration and quantity. For project inquiries, contact us for a tailored quote.

What are the payment terms?

50% deposit within 7 days of order confirmation. The remaining balance is due prior to shipment. Full advance payment may be required for certain orders — this will be specified in the order confirmation.

Delivery & Lead Times

Production times, shipping, and what to expect after ordering.

What is the lead time?

4 to 8 weeks from order confirmation, depending on the product and current production schedule. We will confirm the exact lead time at the time of your inquiry.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Check the piece on receipt and report any damage within 10 business days. Include photographs of the packaging and the damage. We will arrange a replacement or repair. Claims submitted after this window may not be accepted.

What is the warranty period?

24 months from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper installation, misuse, or normal wear. Electrical components must be installed by a qualified electrician.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We have worked with international clients and ship across Europe and beyond. Shipping costs and arrangements are confirmed at the time of order. Pieces are packed to withstand transport.

Product Care

Keeping glass and leather in good condition over time.

How do I care for a glass fitting?

Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive materials and chemical cleaners. The cut glass surfaces are durable but can scratch — handle with care. Do not submerge or expose to prolonged moisture.

How do I care for the leather strap?

Wipe with a dry cloth. Do not use water, oils, or chemical products. Natural leather will develop a patina over time — this is expected and part of the material character. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
